Salt Tab.evidence-first civic information
    Developer API

Public, cited civic data — free to build on

Salt Tab turns inconsistent official sources into a clean, canonical dataset: ingested, human-reviewed, and sourced. That data is available as a read-only JSON API. Only published, approved records are served, and every candidate item carries its source.

    Endpoints

    Base: /api/v1
    MethodPathExample paramsReturns
    GET/api/v1—Self-describing index of the API.
GET/api/v1/races?state=AL&election=2026-11-03Races that have a published comparison.
    GET/api/v1/candidates?state=AL&office=GovernorCandidates in published races.
GET/api/v1/candidates/{id}—One candidate: positions, quotes, endorsements, channels — each cited.
GET/api/v1/search?q=nashvilleSearch people, races, bodies, places, and pages.

    Response shape

Every response wraps data with a meta block carrying the license and attribution, so the citation travels with the data. CORS is open; responses are edge-cached.
